Blue Zones Project Approved
Grocery Stores
Grocery stores subtly but significantly influence our food decisions, from the types of foods offered to where products are placed throughout the store. Case in point: About 60 percent of the food we purchase is highly processed, fatty, salty, or sugary—and many of those types of items are given prime shelf space where they’re more difficult to avoid. The grocery stores below are Blue Zones Project Approved™ for their efforts to give their customers more ways to make healthier choices.

Foods Etc
Clearlake, CA, 95422
Foods Etc. has been serving Lake County for 25 years and is locally owned by Andrew and Kori Pierson. Foods Etc. completed the approval process on October 28, 2022 which includes adding signage to highlight locally grown produce, selling healthy grab-and-go lunches, offering half sandwiches in the deli, distributing healthy recipes, and displaying Blue Zones Project inspired food choices on featured aisle endcaps. "Foods Etc. is our family business; I started bagging groceries when I was just a kid, and now my wife and I are the Next-Generation owners with three little ones of our own! We recognize how important it is to pass along healthy eating habits to our boys, but let's face it - it can be challenging! That's why we are thrilled to partner with Blue Zones. They really do make the healthy choice, the easy choice!" -- Andrew Pierson
